Programming Note: This week, my writers and IT person will be on a well-deserved Fourth of July vacation. But never fear, we’ve written lots of great material in advance for you, and rest assured that if anything earth-shattering occurs – like Hunter Biden being held accountable for ANYTHING – we’ll rush back to our keyboards to cover it. In the meantime, join us in taking a much-needed break from the news to relax and celebrate the birthday of the greatest nation in the history of the Earth while I’m still allowed to say that.
Sincerely,
Mike

Demagogue Alert
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer reacted to the Supreme Court striking down race-based college admissions, forcing business owners to violate their religious beliefs and President Biden’s plan to spend nearly half a trillion bucks on a student loan bailout with no Constitutional authority by attacking the legitimacy of the Court. He called it a “MAGA-dominated” Court and ranted:
"After a multi-decade, special interest-funded effort to reshape the federal judiciary, the fanatical MAGA right have captured the Supreme Court and achieved dangerous, regressive policies that they could never attain at the ballot box." As for the ruling that business owners can’t be forced to violate their religious faith by participating in same sex weddings, he declared that Democrats would always fight to preserve equal protection under the law.

A few points: Ruling by judicial fiat in defiance of the voters’ will has been the Democrat playbook for decades. Schumer also called it a “MAGA” Court in May after it reined in the power of the EPA in a unanimous 9-0 decision. All of those rulings were based on sound Constitutional grounds, with the student loan ruling even including a quote from Nancy Pelosi that Biden didn’t have the power to do it.
But most hilariously hypocritical, Schumer claimed Democrats would always fight to protect equal protection under the law when for the past 24 hours, they’d been having a nuclear meltdown over the Court’s college admissions ruling, which struck down race-based admissions precisely because they violate the 14th Amendment guarantee of equal protection under the law.
Situational ethics are one thing, but Schumer is taking them to the level of situation comedy ethics.
PS – I might believe Democrats think business owners have no right to refuse service based on their religious faith if any of them had criticized the restaurant that refused to serve my daughter and her family just because the owner disagreed with her political views.
